Web Application Firewall (WAF)
Integration Description
A web application firewall (WAF) protects the application layer and specifically designed to analyze each HTTP/S request at the application layer. It does that by filtering, monitoring and blocking any malicious HTTP/S traffic traveling to the web application, and prevents any unauthorized data from leaving the app.
WAF operates in a reverse proxy Mode—acting as an intermediary that protects the web app server from a potentially malicious client.
WAFs are a trusted, first line of defense for applications, especially to protect against the OWASP Top 10 i.e. (SQL injection and XSS)
